Ashlyn Graduates UGA Vet School | Athens GA Senior Photographer

It was a pleasure meeting and photographing Ashlyn. After three years in the University of Georgia’s veterinary program, she graduated with her DVM and wanted senior portraits to mark the occasion. We planned her session at iconic UGA spots across the Athens, GA campus, including the Arch, the Holmes-Hunter building, the Chapel Bell, Herty Field, and the vet school. To make it even more meaningful, Ashlyn brought along her ten-year-old Corgi, Gracie, who sported her own graduation cap in most of the spots.

Rain was forecasted every day that week, so we closely tracked the weather for Athens. The night before her scheduled evening session, we spotted a clear window the next morning and quickly adjusted our plans. The change was worth it, as morning light on UGA’s campus is beautiful and gave us perfect lighting conditions.

We started at the Arch, a must for any Georgia graduate. Ashlyn wore her black dress, Georgia red heels, and later changed into her doctoral gown and cap. Gracie joined in, adding charm and personality to the session. At the Holmes-Hunter building, the grand double staircase and white columns provided the perfect frame for a few quiet moments with Ashlyn and her pet.

Next, we visited the Chapel Bell before moving to Herty Field for classic green space shots and a few creative angles near the fountain’s side entrance. Some of those turned out to be my personal favorites. We ended the session at the Veterinary Medicine building, where Ashlyn wore both her gown and signature white lab coat.

Everything aligned, from the beautiful morning weather and quiet campus to Gracie being a perfect dog companion. It was a joy capturing Ashlyn’s final moments at UGA. I wish her the best as she begins her career as an equine veterinarian in Virginia.
