Reese and GiGi - Equestrian Portraits In North Georgia

Back in the fall, I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful equestrian portrait session in North Georgia with Reese and her mare, GiGi. Autumn is one of my favorite seasons for horse photography in Georgia, and the warm fall light paired perfectly with this accomplished and trusting pair.
GiGi is a striking bay mare with a confident presence who truly enjoyed the attention of her portrait session. Even with deer lingering along the nearby tree line, GiGi trusted Reese throughout our time together. Capturing that quiet connection is one of my favorite parts of horse photography.
Reese trains at Patchwork Farm, a hunter, equitation, and jumper barn located in Canton, GA, about 45 minutes north of Atlanta. Together, Reese and GiGi compete in USEF and GHJA shows across the Southeast, including Alpharetta, Tryon, Aiken, and Fairburn.
Known in the show ring as Gigi Gorgeous, GiGi and Reese have achieved incredible success. They’ve earned wins across multiple classes, divisions, derbies, and medal finals, while in steep classes with up to sixty competitors. The highlight of their partnership came when GiGi was named Zone 4 Low Children’s Horse of the Year Champion, an impressive honor based on points earned from ribbon placements, class size, and show scale throughout the region.
As a Georgia photographer specializing in horse photography, it was truly an honor to create equestrian portraits for such an accomplished and dedicated team. These sessions aren’t just about competition results—they’re about celebrating the bond between horse and rider at this moment in their journey.
Below are a few favorites from Reese and GiGi’s mini equestrian portrait session.
