Kloe’s Sheep Senior Portraits | Georgia 4-H Livestock Senior Session

Kloe’s senior portrait session was a meaningful combination of personality and livestock experience. As a Georgia 4-H exhibitor, her time raising and showing sheep played a central role in her school years, so we focused on creating livestock senior portraits that reflected that commitment. Alongside her market lambs, we incorporated a mix of candid moments, show-style positioning, and individual senior portraits to tell a complete story.

We began near their pond with her 126-pound wether, CAB. Using the pond’s dock, a weeping willow tree, and a nearby bench, I guided Kloe through a series of natural setups that allowed her to interact comfortably with him while keeping the setting visually clean and intentional. These locations gave variety without overwhelming the subjects, and the slower pace helped CAB stay settled as we moved between spots.

Kloe has spent six years showing sheep and has been especially successful in showmanship at the Georgia state level. That experience showed in how she handled her lambs throughout the session. Her awareness of positioning and timing made it possible to transition smoothly between relaxed moments and more structured livestock portraits without disrupting the flow.

After an outfit and location change, we shifted focus to individual senior portraits before introducing her February ewe, Cookie. At 84 pounds, Cookie brought a different energy to the session, so I adjusted my approach slightly, allowing more time for her to settle before photographing. Beneath the blooming trees, I positioned Kloe to keep the background simple while still incorporating the seasonal setting, then worked through a series of close, quiet interactions that ended in a heartfelt final embrace.

Being able to step in and brace Cookie briefly was a full-circle moment for me, drawing on my own background in Georgia 4-H. That familiarity helps me anticipate movement, adjust positioning quickly, and keep sessions running smoothly without putting unnecessary pressure on the animal.

These sheep senior portraits were not built around rigid posing or perfect conditions. They were shaped by setting up, awareness, and an understanding of how to work with both exhibitor and animal in a way that feels natural and controlled. It was an honor to document this stage of Kloe’s experience and the years she has invested in her 4-H livestock projects.

The market lamb season ends in October at the GA National Fair. After that, Kloe will show breeding ewes until the final 4-H/FFA Georgia state show in February. Her position as a Georgia Club Lamb Association board member further highlights her dedication to the GA sheep industry.
