Laura And Her Goat and Pig | GA Livestock Photographer

Over the summer, I had the pleasure of photographing Laura with her livestock in Oglethorpe County, just outside of Athens, Georgia. Laura is currently in 11th grade, and her involvement in FFA and livestock showing has become a major part of her life. With seven years of goat experience and in her first year showing pigs, it was the perfect time to capture this season in her show career with custom livestock portraits. Her dedication to both showmanship and fitting was easy to see, and it was clear how much she truly enjoys working with her animals.

Her goat Diesel is a Boer who was born on May 15, 2025. Laura shows him in both showmanship and market wether classes, traveling to jackpots and county fairs across Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina. One of the highlights from our time together was hearing how showing goats has helped her build strong fitting skills. She has even won fitting contests at the state show and at state-level camps like YGB. These are very competitive contests with experienced goat exhibitors, so her success is something to be truly proud of.

Her pig, Creed is a purebred Hampshire barrow who was born on March 13, 2025. Although pigs are a new addition for Laura, the connection she has made with Creed is already strong. She shows him in both purebred and market barrow classes, and says her favorite part about working with pigs is getting to know their personalities. Laura has put quite a bit of training into Creed, who followed her cues during the session and stayed close to her the whole time.

When I asked Laura what she loves most about showing livestock, she said it is the people. She enjoys meeting new friends, spending time with her family, and helping others, especially when it comes to fitting goats at shows. Laura is the kind of showman who reminds us all why these 4-H and FFA youth livestock show programs matter. Photographing her with Diesel and Creed was an honor, and I am so glad we were able to document this chapter of her story with a custom livestock photography session.
