Scarlett's Goat Senior Photos | GA Senior Portraits

Back in July, I had the honor of photographing Scarlett and her three beloved show goats. A graduating senior from North Oconee High School, just outside of Athens, GA, Scarlett chose to take her livestock senior portraits at her family’s wedding venue right next door to their farm. The property was a dream, complete with flowering trees, charming antiques, brick pathways, and lush green grass.

Scarlett has been showing livestock through her FFA chapter since her freshman year. Each spring, from April through June, she sources Boar crossbred goats from across the South. Training for showmanship and market classes usually takes three to five weeks, with the show season culminating at the Georgia National Fair in October. This session was bittersweet because these three goats are the last Scarlett will ever show.

Each goat in Scarlett’s trio has a unique place in her heart. Lainey Lee, born February 24th, is her homegrown “baby” and shows in the Wether Dam Show. Madea, a February 20th doe, might have a fierce name, but Scarlett insists she’s the sweetest girl. She’s entered in the Market Doe Show. And then there’s Dumbo, a March 13th market wether that Scarlett says can do no wrong.

Throughout the shoot, Scarlett moved gracefully from one location to the next, showing off each goat’s best side like the seasoned exhibitor she is. Between her commitment to FFA, her love for livestock, and the friendships she’s built across Georgia, Scarlett's high school years have been full of growth, hard work, and heart. It was a pleasure spending time with and taking Scarlett’s goat senior portraits at her family’s wedding venue outside of Athens, GA.
