Remember Me Horse Photoshoots

Remember Me equine portrait sessions, sometimes called senior horse photoshoots, end-of-life sessions, legacy sessions, or celebration of life sessions, are designed to honor everything your horse has given you. These specialized horse photography sessions focus on senior horses or those facing terminal illness, when time feels especially fragile and uncertain. Whether your horse is simply slowing down or you have had difficult conversations with your veterinarian, these sessions preserve their presence, personality, and temperament through timeless, meaningful imagery.

The Horse’s Comfort

Each equine portrait session is shaped entirely around your horse, meeting them where they are both emotionally and physically. There are no strict time limits, because these moments should never feel rushed or staged. Your horse’s comfort is always my top priority.

I work patiently, adapting to their energy level and physical limitations. In many cases, I photograph them right where they feel most at ease and can move comfortably. A quiet pause in their pasture or a familiar resting place near the barn often carries as much meaning as the horse itself.

Connection

Remember Me equine portrait sessions focus on authenticity over polish. A gentle hand under the muzzle, fingers tracing along a weathered mane, or a forehead pressed softly against theirs. These understated moments are not about perfection or performance, but about true connection.

Even as age reshapes a horse’s body, I use angles, framing, and perspective to highlight the expressions and details you know best. The focus stays on preserving your horse’s unique presence. The quiet dignity, the trust, and the familiarity built over years of partnership.

Timing

If you’ve received tough health news or beginning to feel that your horse may have less time ahead, consider booking a Remember Me session sooner rather than later.

Because these sessions are often time-sensitive, I prioritize scheduling so each horse has the opportunity to have their story preserved. When planning your session, we will talk through the best time of day for your horse. While golden hour is well known, sunrise sessions or quieter moments after they have eaten or had medication may be a better fit depending on their energy and mobility.

Your horse’s comfort always comes first, so there is no set time limit. Some sessions move quickly, while others take more time with breaks as needed.

In the End

Because veterinary care costs build up at the end of a horse’s life, I offer these Remember Me horse photoshoots at fifty percent off regular session prices for horses over 24 and those facing terminal illness.

The love we share with our horses is enduring, layered, and deeply personal. Through equine portrait photography, those memories are given a form that lasts. Something you can return to, hold onto, and share.

If you are considering a Remember Me equine portrait session or a senior horse photoshoot, I am here to create something that reflects your horse as they truly are. Unforgettable in the ways that matter most.

Real Sessions, Real Stories

I photographed Stormy, a spirited Arabian in his early twenties, in North Georgia during a vibrant fall season. Thankfully, he was in good health, but his owner wanted to preserve the energy and brightness he carried in that chapter of his life. The resulting images reflect a horse very much present in the moment and deeply connected to his surroundings.

For Sarah and her horse Daisy, time looked very different. After difficult conversations with her veterinarian, it became clear their time together was limited. We scheduled their "Remember Me" horse photoshoot with urgency. The day brought steady rain, until a brief twenty-minute window opened. In that short span, we created images centered on emotion rather than conditions, allowing Daisy to simply exist as she was, with Sarah beside her.

Sandi and Tabasco’s session was shaped by comfort above all else. After many years together, they wanted updated photos, but Tabasco was especially sensitive on his feet that day. Rather than moving him across the farm for a planned backdrop, I used natural light, close framing, and creative angles within his pen. The result was a set of images that felt honest and grounded, reflecting their relationship without adding stress or strain.
